Emergency Dental Care

Booking an Urgent Appointment

If you need urgent dental care, calling us directly is the fastest way to be seen. We make every effort to accommodate patients with urgent needs.

How to reach us for urgent care

Call us directly at 306.374.7272. When you call, let us know your concern is urgent. Our team will assess the situation and advise on the appropriate next step, whether that is coming in the same day, later in the week, or in some cases, directing you to a hospital emergency department.

Online booking may not reflect same-day availability, and it does not allow our team to assess the urgency of your situation. For anything time-sensitive, please call rather than booking online.

What counts as a dental emergency?

If you are unsure whether your situation warrants urgent care, calling us is always the right move. Our team can help you decide. The following situations generally do require prompt attention:

  • Severe toothache or dental pain that is not managed by over-the-counter pain relief
  • Swelling of the face, jaw, or gum
  • Dental trauma, a knocked-out, broken, or displaced tooth
  • A lost crown or filling that is causing pain, sensitivity, or leaves a sharp edge
  • Signs of a dental abscess, including throbbing pain, swelling, fever, or a bad taste
  • Bleeding from the gum or tooth that does not stop with gentle pressure

What may not require same-day care

Some dental concerns are worth addressing but do not require immediate attention. These include:

  • A minor chip with no pain, sensitivity, or sharp edge
  • A lost filling with no sensitivity or discomfort
  • Cosmetic concerns such as a stained or slightly chipped tooth
  • Mild gum sensitivity without swelling or signs of infection

If you are unsure which category your situation falls into, call us. We would rather help you figure it out than have you wait through something that needs prompt care.

After-hours guidance

If you are unable to reach us and you have facial swelling affecting your breathing or swallowing, or a fever alongside dental pain, go to the nearest hospital emergency department without delay. These signs can indicate a spreading infection that requires medical attention.

For dental pain after hours that does not involve those warning signs, over-the-counter pain relief (ibuprofen or acetaminophen, taken as directed) may help you manage until we open. Call us first thing in the morning and describe your situation, we will do our best to find an appropriate time to see you.

What to tell us when you call

Having this information ready helps our team understand how urgently you need to be seen and how to prepare:

  • The nature of the issue, what is happening and which tooth or area is affected
  • Your pain level and whether it is constant or comes and goes
  • When the issue started or when the injury occurred
  • Whether there is any swelling, fever, or difficulty swallowing
  • Whether you are a current or new patient
